|Since there seems to be a misconception going around that the ToS and the chat policies do not exist anymore and they do not need to be followed, here are the still-in-effect chat policies.
Violation of the Chat Policies will result in the loss of Chat Rights. Each loss of Chat Rights increases the possible Level of Muting a player will receive:
On the first loss of Chat Rights, the user can lose their chat privileges for up-to 1 hour
On the second loss of Chat Rights, the user can lose their chat privileges for up-to 1 day (actual duration to be determined by Chat Moderator)
On the third loss of Chat Rights, the user can lose their chat privileges for up-to 1 week (actual duration to be determined by Chat Moderator)
Mute durations after the third loss of Chat Rights will be determined by the Chat Mod on a case-by-case basis. Chat Mods may mute a user for 1 Hour, 1 Day, 1 Week or 1 Month based on the severity of the offense and the history of the user.
Users who persist in breaking the Chat Policies may have their Chat Rights permanently removed and may even have their account banned from the game.
Any of the following are a violation of the Chat Policies. These are considered "unallowed" in any Drop Shock chat or messages and can result in moderation based on the Chat Moderator Guidelines:
Racist comments or "hate speech"
Comments of a personal nature that offend another person (Divulging or talking about someone else's personal information in chat.)
Chat spam, including talking in ALL CAPS (There are multiple variations of this. Basically, if someone asks you to stop spamming, stop or you will receive a Strike.)
Chat that attempts to circumvent the chat-filter (by adding a space, extra character, using a non-letter character, etc.) to attempt to use words that the filter would normally block
Any chat which would be rated PG-13 or greater
Falsely accusing another player of a Chat Policy violation
While discussing other games in Drop Shock chat / messages / posts is fine, advertising another game (posting links or making other one-sided promotions) in Drop Shock is not allowed
Posting links that are not to a Drop Shock related site
Personal Attacks (Using another person's personal information to attack them or making an offensive personal comment about someone else, these are comments that are made outside the context of the game.)
Note for Personal Attacks The player being attacked must request that the attacking player stop and that they feel this is a personal attack. This request must be done via the Chat method currently being used (ie. if the communication is in All Chat then they must make the request in All Chat.)
Also, some types of chat may not result in a strike, but should be taken off public chat channels, but this is only if a non-Moderator complains. These include:
Non-game related chat
Keep in-mind all chat channels are logged: every channel, at all times. You are accountable for everything you say in chat, on the forum and in messages, regardless of who you thought was or wasn't watching; if you type it into Drop Shock, you will be held accountable to the above policies, even if you were not aware of them at the time of the infraction.
To report a violation of the Chat Policies, note the time and date that the violation took place, the user, and the type (chat or message). Message a Chat Mod in-game with this information and they will investigate the issue.
For more information, check out the Chat Moderator Guidelines.
The ToS can be found by logging out of the game then clicking the following link:
An alternative method would be logging out of the game, clicking new user, then clicking the button to request a validation code.
