https://sourceforge.net/p/dropshock/tickets/61/

Approved: 5 votes.

This allows for bandits to spawn on arenas.

You can modify their Armor/Shield, Regen, Damage, Controlled Speed, and Max Speed.

I also added the ability to drop on blocked arenas (with a toggle) on arenas just incase of 100% spawn rate planets.

Blocked off ore generation on arenas.
Some other small stuff.

Probably needs a bit of clean up but should work.

Yay , this is a supper big deal update, as it is buildable into other ideas in a lot of ways.

definite AYE from me, i'd like to see at least a little more development on the PVE front for the game, and this is a good first step

YAY - Ally / Enemy indicators need to be fixed also, you don't get the negatives from base support, and you still get the positives if this option is disabled so you can't practice base attacks legitimately.

Also making the base shoot AI would be nice.

The effort required to go into and change all allie/faction effects to hostile/non-hostile would take too much time.

And this would increase the Arena training by a crazy amount. Three times a week we do mass PvP training on konu / arenas, if we could practice base assaults with attackers and defenders it would increase activity of the arenas so much. Surely creating a "bandit spawning" option is more effort then going in PRE-EXISTING code and just changing a few things around?

If you want, lets all vote on the council of this, and if it will beneift, if it will, we do it, i can put this to the community also, but I already know the answer.

To summarize anybody who doesn't wanna read this: I am AGAINST this update until we get the current bugs fixed on the arena.

This is an easy add that doesn't take away from the existing functionality of the planet.

Diverting our efforts to a non-core planet to fix a very small set of problems that effect a very small set of players is a bad use of time, especially with our coding resources being limited.

So remind me again why we are adding bandits, for people to.. Practice killing bandits? Pretty sure we have close to double figure planets for that- there is nowhere we can effectively practice base assaults.

This has already been coded. There's no additional effort required and it is something that was requested. There's really only upside at this point, regardless of the merits of the additional suggestion.

We shouldn't prevent this from being pushed simply because another, potentially more useful update (which would take a substantial amount of time) has not yet gone through community discussion or been coded.

Yeah you're right, sorry guys, just really want to see the game's bugs fixed first.

Vanoi and I did talk through this - it will be tricky to separate all the various effect issues but down the road, once we get more significant (and less time-costly) updates out of the way, we'll look at getting this wrapped up.
